One of the first things you will notice at College Street is that children and youth are a celebrated part of our community. Each Sunday in worship our K – 12th graders circle up for Time for Kids conversations with Pastor Ken before heading to class. When they stay upstairs to participate in the full worship service and Communion (once a month), our kids gather at a special pan gen rug area–right up front. When they go downstairs to faith formation classes during worship, they are met with age-appropriate classroom environments and a thoughtful curriculum that includes plenty of hands-on participation and play. Our congregation generously supports their programs and growth in all sorts of ways: professionally staffed Nursery, Youth ChoirConfirmation, annual Mission Trips, and regular Friday Night Youth Group. Many of our children and youth also love participating as Acolytes and Special Readers and in our Christmas Pageant. You will find all ages laughing together on Game Nights, at our Chili Cook-Off and Carnival, and, yes, the karaoke mic.

Pan Gen Worship falls on first Sundays of the month. Our K – 12th graders stay upstairs for this pan-generational service and are invited to come sit at our rug and cushion area up front. This is about welcoming all ages and abilities into worship, and embracing the impact of being an intergenerational community of faith. At the rug, kids and adult leaders can engage with hands-on materials that are specially prepared to encourage listening and participating at your own level. Our kids feel valued, learn they are a part of a community, learn of worship and ritual, and turn out to be naturals at it (should we be surprised?). Our congregation has found it to be incredibly positive and enriching, and we get a lot of warm, fuzzy feedback. Parents are welcome to come sit up front with us, or can count on our adult volunteers to be there to welcome new kids and help everyone get comfortable. Toward the end of the service, we send kids back to their pews so families can experience Communion together as the bread and juice are passed throughout the pews. (Note: Nursery is able to welcome any K – 1st graders into their flock on these days if parents would prefer that for their young ones.)

Faith Formation Classes for K – 12th graders are held during 10 am worship on most Sundays. We head downstairs to classrooms after the Time for Kids talk. It takes a village, and we have our wonderful, volunteer teachers! For more info, please check out the links for Children and Youth in the menu to the left.

Youth Choir is led by our beloved Director of Music, Yona Yellin, and is open to kids ages 6 and up. They meet regularly for 30-minute rehearsals immediately following Sunday morning worship services, and they sing in several services throughout the year.

Alison Pierce, our Youth & Children’s Ministry Leader, would love to hear from you with any questions or introductions! Her email address is apierce(at)
